About Us
In association with JAM FC of New York; we are seeking partners in a new program we wish to offer in specific urban New Jersey districts. We’re calling our program Asbury Park Athletic After Academy (501C nonprofit); which is forming as a youth mentorship/after school curriculum that will have as its goal; the creation of a safe, positive and dynamic space for urban young people. The curriculum will be aerobic/calisthenic/ football(soccer) training that will feature financial literacy and dietary seminars for the student/youth.
Our Program
The program will provide mentorship and exercise programming in a safe, low pressure and positive environment that uses soccer as a tool for learning, team building and social development. Asbury Park Athletic After Academy will have a goal of providing a healthy meal for it’s student/youth every day of the program (three days a week) provided by a local vendor from your community.
Demographics
Our program is for everyone, but we are targeting at risk/disadvantaged and food insecure students (boys and girls) and working in accordance with JAM FC; we are aiming to create a cutting edge curriculum that will embody key features of a football youth academy – my goal with this project is to bring rare/world class intellectual resources to bare for underserved young people in New Jersey.
What our program aims to teach
Our belief is simple – there is no greater educational tool or medium for interpersonal learning than athletics and for us the beautiful game is the best catalyst for young people to learn emotional intelligence, respect and healthy living. We feel that our society can do a poor job of teaching key lessons to young people and we’re aiming to create a curriculum that can be copied and brought to young people around the state. It just so happens that US Soccer has a huge hole in its youth development structure – with pay to play programs leaving communities like Asbury Park/Neptune/Newark/Camden behind – FIFA President Gianni Infantino said just as much recently. The goal isn’t to create the next Messi, but the club can act as a positive influence on the local community, providing a dynamic and safe footballing based curriculum and after school downtime.
